PDP Elects 23 Officials In North-Central Zone

The Peoples Democratic (PDP) has elected 23 officials to conduct the affairs of the party in the North-Central zone for the next four decades.

Announcing the outcome of the election on Saturday at Makurdi, the Electoral Committee Chairman, Dr Cletus Tyokaa, said that all the outgone zonal officials were returned unopposed.

He said a total of 906 delegates were expected at the congress but just 820 were accredited and voted.

Benue Gov. Samuel Ortom tasked the officials on equity, justice and equity in the release of their mandate.

Ortom also disclosed that the party in the zone had resolved to end `godfatherism’, imposition of applicants and avoid the mistakes of 2015 and 2019 that gave APC success.

He commended the stakeholders of this celebration within the zone for exhibiting a high level of maturity throughout the processes that caused the election.

Mark said that at a time all the six State Governors and Senators from the zone were chosen under the stage of the PDP and encouraged the people to do more to recover their lost positions.

Saraki also said that it was time for the zone to provide the needed leadership which Nigerians yearned for by winning all six states in the zone.

He appealed to the APC to quit bothering their governors and allow them to concentrate on the great works that they had been doing across their respective states.

“It’s time for us to go back and reclaim our support from the remaining five countries of the North-Central since North-Central belongs to PDP and that travel has begun with the return of Jerry Gana.

We must also continue to keep FCT.

“We must go back and send a message that PDP has woken up and is currently on the map to take the nation,” Saraki said.

Former governor of Niger State, Mr Babajida Aliyu, said that the celebration has to create a calm feeling to endear it to Nigerians before their 2023 general elections.

“We have to do whatever is necessary to reunite and create a peaceful atmosphere which will endear us to Nigerians.

In his acceptance speech, PDP North Central Zonal Chairman, Shan, praised the party faithful, especially their leaders, for finding them worthy to serve another term.

Shan vowed they wouldn’t disappoint the trust reposed in them.
