PDP’s Ekweremadu demands transparency in Enugu’s primary elections.

Senator Ike Ekweremadu, a Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Enugu State, has urged the state’s party leadership to ensure a transparent primary ahead of the 2023 election.

This was stated by the former Deputy Senate President during a meeting with PDP leaders in the state on Tuesday.

A free and fair primary, according to Ekweremadu, would ensure justice, equity, and peace among delegates and party members.

“I am here primarily to solicit votes,” he explained, “because all members of the party’s state executive are statutory delegates, beginning with the House of Assembly and ending with the gubernatorial primaries.”

I’m also here to provide additional guidance to ensure a free and fair process. I’d like to hear everyone say at the end of the process that our delegates and primary elections were free and fair. The only way to ensure justice, equity, and peace is to do so.

Ekweremadu went on to say that he was looking forward to a productive exercise that would unite and strengthen the party, and he urged PDP members to embrace democratic ideals.
“I’m looking forward to a process that is both transparent and productive, so that after the primary, we can all go to the election as one united house.”

“I am also urging all stakeholders and candidates for various offices to follow the PDP’s path of sportsmanship and democratic ideals.” The PDP will emerge stronger as a result,” he added.
