The Police Command in Lagos State has stated that it will arrest both the motorcyclist and the passenger as part of its efforts to enforce the ban on commercial motorcycle operations in the state.
Its spokesman, Mr. Benjamin Hundeyin, made the announcement via his Twitter account on Saturday, which was monitored by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
“According to the new total ban on motorcycles in the six local government areas of Lagos State, both riders and passengers will be arrested and prosecuted.

“The passenger is a participant. He declared that ignorance would not serve as an excuse.
Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu imposed a new and total ban on commercial motorcycles, commonly known as Okada, on all highways in six Local Government Areas and nine Local Council Development Areas, according to NAN.
These areas are affected: Eti-Osa, Ikeja, Surulere, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, and Apapa.
The directive was issued by Sanwo-Olu during a meeting with the Commissioner of Police, Area Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers.
