Presidency: Ohanaeze denies dumping Peter Obi to endorse Tinubu

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo socio-cultural organization’s Lagos State chapter has denied rumours that it supported Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, over Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, ahead of the 2023 elections.

The chapter’s president, Sunday Ossai, claimed that the untrue rumour that the Ohanaeze in Lagos had dumped Obi for Tinubu came straight from the pit of hell.

Solomon Aguene was to blame for making such claims, according to Ossai.

Nobody else had the right to speak on the group’s behalf, he insisted.

Ossai stated in a statement that Ohanaeze in Lagos State was not the intended beneficiary of the claim, which was made to serve some private interests.

The statement said, in part, “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has been alerted to the news making the rounds with a caption ‘Ohanaeze Ndigbo dumps Peter Obi, declares support for Tinubu’.

“Chief Solomon Aguene, the most recent president of Ohanaeze’s Lagos State Chapter, is the author of the aforementioned statements.

The general public is hereby informed by Ohanaeze that Chief Sunday Ossai is the chapter’s current president and that no other person has the authority to speak on behalf of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State Chapter other than the chapter president or a duly authorised officer of the current executive of Lagos State.

For the avoidance of doubt, the false claim that “Ohanaeze dumps Obi” comes from the depths of hell and is intended to further personal gain. It is hereby categorically refuted that such a claim is true.

Atiku Abubakar, Tinubu, and Obi were announced as the presidential candidates for their respective parties a few days ago.
