Anosike Chimobi, one of the suspects detained by the Imo State Police Command in connection with the murder of Ahmad Gulak, a former political advisor to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has admitted to carrying out the heinous act.
On Monday, June 27, Chimobi, who is from the state’s Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area, was paraded.
It may be remembered that Gulak, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was assassinated on May 30, 2021, in Obiangwu, Imo State, while traveling to the airport, ostensibly to board a flight to Abuja.
According to Mr. Mike Abattam, the Imo State Police Command’s public relations officer, who was parading the suspects, Chimobi had been on the command’s radar ever since Gulak was killed.

Shortly after they killed Gulak, he claimed the suspect got away during a shootout with police officers and members of his gang at Aboh Mbaise. Five of the suspects, he claimed, were killed.
After his arrest, Chimobi, who identified himself as a commercial bus driver, told reporters that he was not a part of the criminal gang.
He claimed that when Gulak’s killers approached him to take them somewhere in his car, he tried to fight them off. But when they threatened to kill him, he eventually gave in.
But he did admit that he had driven the criminals to the scene and stopped Gulak’s car as it headed to the airport.
