Tension as gunmen abduct traditional head, APC chieftain, two others in Ondo

High Chief Mukaila Bello, the traditional head of Iku quarters in Ikare Akoko, the headquarters of Akoko North-East Local Government Area in Ondo State, and three other indigenes of the town have been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen suspected of being kidnappers.
The victims were kidnapped on Thursday night along the Ago Panu axis on the Owo-Ikare highway, according to reports.

Another chief in the community, Yeye Gbafinro, a former House of Assembly candidate for the Akoko North-East constituency and APC chieftain, Adeniran Adeyemo, and a community leader, Bashiru Adekile, were kidnapped alongside the traditional chief.

The incident is causing tension in the community right now.
The victims were said to be on transit to Ikare-Akoko from Akure, the State capital, when they were waylaid on the road.

The driver of the vehicle conveying the victims was macheted by the gunmen and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Owo.

As at press time, the kidnappers had not been in touch with the victims’ families.

Meanwhile, the police command in the State was yet to react to the incident.
