The Christian Attorneys’ Fellowship of Nigeria, CLASFON, has expressed Despair over the refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to Alter the Service Chiefs at the face of the Massive Meltdown of Safety and a near-complete breakdown of law and order.
It praised the position from the National Judicial Council on both instances and expected the ideal things could be completed in the long run. The assembly called on both country Governors to heed the voice of reason and do what’s right so as to guarantee the independence of the Judiciary within their own States. The quarterly meeting of this President-in-Council of CLASFON stated,

“The state is diving to a state of total anarchy together with all the current reports of kidnapping of Police Officers as well as other safety employees for ransom, the current killing of their APC chairman of Nasarawa state in Lafia and kidnapping of Pastor Polycarp Zongo of their COCIN Church in his way by Jos, Plateau country to Gombe at Gombe State.” “It’s our expectation that the appointment and swearing from the Justices will interpret to fast dispensation of justice in the apex court of this property and draining of the massive backlog of pending cases,” the attorneys prayed.
On the ASUU attack, the participants voiced concern that after more than eight weeks, both the universities and other public tertiary institutions in the nation continue to be closed down having an army of nervous and agitated youth in the home and roaming the roads. The participants called on the national authorities to desperately de-escalate pressure by unfreezing the bank account of their perceived patrons of their youths protests and create a more conducive atmosphere for victims to emerge openly to ventilate their grievances before the various Judicial Panels throughout the countries. The attorneys urged the national and state authorities to take urgent actions to guarantee the release of Pastor Polycarp Zongo along with other taxpayers in the control of terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements, including that concrete steps have to be put in place to guarantee the security of the lives and possessions of citizens. The attorneys expressed their disapproval into the undue political interference in the appointment of Chief Judges of all States, notably in Cross River because it impacts the appointment of Justice Akon Ikpeme and in Gombe State about the appointment of Justice Beatrice Iliya, alleging that although eminently competent and as many senior Judges in the States, they’ve been unfortunately sidelined on both cultural, religious or spiritual grounds.
About the #EndSARS protests, the entire body praised the federal government for directing the institution of different Judicial Commissions of Inquiry to investigate allegations of human rights abuses from the disbanded SARS Police Components and notes with despair the effort to suspend the accounts for alleged #EndSARS patrons. It condemned the wanton destruction of private and public possessions by hoodlums who took good advantage of their #ENDSARS protests and condoled with individuals who lost their nearest and dearest, properties and also their means of livelihood.
