Operation Safe Haven troops apprehended two notorious kidnappers, Abdulrazaq Umar and Idris Abdullahi, at Heipang in Plateau’s Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.
Maj.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, Director, Defence Media Operations, confirmed the development on Tuesday.
Onyeuko stated that the kidnappers were apprehended on July 7 and 8.
He stated that the operation was carried out in collaboration with the police.
He added that the suspects confessed to carrying out several kidnapping operations in Plateau and Bauchi States, including the June 22 murder of Alhaji Saleh Abdulhamid (Shaba) at Ex Land Village.
According to Onyeuko, they also revealed that the gang’s leader was Malam Buhari Umar.

According to him, suspects attempted to flee while on their way to the criminals’ hideout and were apprehended.
Onyeuko went on to say that troops raided Mailafia, Nisama, Dogon Filli, and Gidan Waya in Kaduna State’s Jema’a Local Government Area on July 9.
During the raid, he said, two armed robbers, George Yakubu, 26, and George Joseph, 25, were apprehended.
Among the items recovered from the suspects are three AK-47 rifles, a knife, a cutting hoe, a cutter, and a spanner, according to him.
“On the same day, troops responded to a distress call reporting that gunmen had attacked a Toyota Hummer Bus with the registration number LFA 322 YR Nasarawa in Dogon Filli village.”
“Troops were dispatched to the scene and rescued nine passengers who were being held hostage.”
“The military high command commends Operation Safe Haven troops for their efforts and encourages the general public to provide troops with credible and timely information on criminal activity,” he said.
