Two months after being kidnapped, Catholic priest from Kaduna dies in captivity

Rev Fr. Joseph Aketeh Bako, a Catholic priest, died eight weeks after being kidnapped and held captive.

Rev Fr. Christian Okewu Emanuel, Chancellor of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna, made the announcement on Wednesday in Kaduna.
On March 8, 2022, Rev. Fr Bako was abducted from his home in Kudenda, Chikun local government area, Kaduna State.
His medications were confiscated by his kidnappers.
“His own brother was killed there in his presence, and his illness worsened after his brother was killed, and he died.”

“We have not discovered his body, but his death has been verified.” People who were taken at the same time witnessed his death.”

Most Rev. Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, the Catholic Archbishop of Kaduna, has sent his sincere condolences to Fr. Bako’s immediate family and the entire Catholic Community of St John Kudenda, assuring them of his brotherly closeness and prayers.
